Welcome to the start of the summer term. <\/strong><\/p>\n

I offer an especially warm welcome to our new students who join us this term.\u00a0I also send our thoughts to Year 13 and to those other students for whom this will be their last term \u2013 not quite the end\u00a0we intended \u2013 but just you wait, we will make up for it!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is the time when I would usually talk, in our first assembly together, of the wonderful opportunity Easter allows for us all to make a fresh start. We have the chance to \u2018de-frag\u2019 and unclutter our lives and get ourselves back in line. I say it every year because I believe it\u2019s so true!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Easter is the time when many religious communities proclaim that not even death will overcome us.\u00a0 Light will overcome the current darkness and, as we all hold on tight to the joy and hope that Easter brings, people all over the world are taking time to consider how we all should, or will, live our lives when we are through these times.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We will continue to do things differently<\/span>! We<\/span> value the most important thing that <\/span>greatly <\/span>enriches people\u2019s lives<\/span> and <\/span>n<\/span>ow<\/span>,<\/span> more than ever<\/span>,<\/span> we <\/span>all <\/span>need the power of music to bring us together<\/span>.\u00a0<\/span> \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

At the same time, <\/span>we <\/span>will continue to<\/span> nurture the skills & attitudes<\/span> we need for <\/span>a <\/span>successful and <\/span>happy<\/span> careers<\/span>; <\/span>skills that<\/span> also <\/span>help us become that little bit more resilient \u2013 <\/span>a <\/span>vital <\/span>attribute<\/span> for<\/span> a professional musician<\/span>!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I remember saying to you all a while ago that never mind how hard you plan (or practise!), sometimes: \u201cYou will just have to build the bridge as you walk on it!\u201d<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I explained that on occasions<\/span> \u201c<\/span>you <\/span>will <\/span>have to <\/span>learn the \u2018job of <\/span>life\u2019 as you do it<\/span>\u201d<\/span>; <\/span>you can\u2019t prepare for <\/span>every<\/span><\/i> eventuality \u2013 you just draw great strength from the experiences and ski<\/span>lls you develop along the way <\/span>throughout your <\/span>Chets<\/span> journey<\/span>.\u00a0 After all, a<\/span>s performers \u2013 you <\/span>never<\/span> want to nail everything down<\/span> so tightly<\/span> that there is no <\/span>room to grow in performance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Little did we know \u2013 we are on that bridge!\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Regardless of our current situation, light is certainly overcoming darkness at <\/span>Chets<\/span> and we have some really exciting<\/span>, innovative<\/span> opportunities<\/span> during the term ahead.\u00a0 Tom Redmond will be in touch very soon to <\/span>tell you all his ideas<\/span> which will promote <\/span>the <\/span>wide ranging<\/span> skills that you will no doubt <\/span>be able to <\/span>call upon for the rest of your professional careers.<\/span> I look forward to seeing more pics of you all enjoying your 1:1<\/span> instrumental and vocal lessons and hearing of the incredible progress you continue to make academically. I just\u00a0<\/span>can\u2019t thank the whole Chetham\u2019s community enough \u2013 keep going everyone!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I offer my personal congratulations to Tom Redmond and Nicola Smith on their appointment as Joint Principals of our school from September. I could not have wished better for the school community. I know you will be in incredibly safe and inspirational hands.\u00a0 <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
