{"id":2992,"date":"2016-11-25T11:52:58","date_gmt":"2016-11-25T11:52:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/school.chethams.com\/?p=2992"},"modified":"2016-11-25T11:54:02","modified_gmt":"2016-11-25T11:54:02","slug":"chethams-alumni-nominated-for-british-jazz-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chethamsschoolofmusic.com\/blog\/chethams-alumni-nominated-for-british-jazz-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Chetham\u2019s alumni nominated for British Jazz Awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Two recent Chetham\u2019s alumni, Alexander Bone and Rory Ingham, have been nominated in the Rising Star category of the 2016 British Jazz Awards.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Close friends Alexander (saxophone) and Rory (trombone) both graduated Chetham\u2019s in 2015 before moving on to study Jazz at the Royal Academy of Music, where they are in their second year. They also perform regularly together in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UCG9zlRqtZyGf3pXs19YLCiw\">Jam Experiment<\/a>, an award-winning jazz quintet which includes two more Chetham\u2019s alumni \u2013 Toby Comeau\u00a0(piano) and Jonathan Mansfield (percussion).<\/p>\n<p>This may not be the first time you have seen Alexander\u2019s name on these pages, as he\u00a0won the inaugural <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/mediacentre\/latestnews\/2014\/bbc-young-musician-jazz-award\">BBC Young Jazz Musician Award<\/a> in 2014 whilst studying at Chetham\u2019s.<\/p>\n<p>These nominations are further testament to how the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/chethamsschoolofmusic.com\/study\/music\/jazz\/\">Chetham&#8217;s Jazz Department<\/a> has gone from strength to strength in recent years. The department is one of the fastest growing at the School, involving\u00a0both first study jazz players and others keen to broaden their skills and experience. Jazz\u00a0studies\u00a0include\u00a0improvisation sessions as well as\u00a0specialist classes in jazz theory, jazz harmony, aural and transcription.<\/p>\n<p>If you would like to vote for either nominee, click <a href=\"http:\/\/www.instant.ly\/s\/vXr3o\/nav#p\/124f80\">here<\/a>.
