Hot on the heels of a fantastic A-Level results day, we are delighted to announce that our year 11s have achieved an outstanding set of GCSE results. <\/p>\n

– 93.6% pass rate (higher than the national average at 67.8%)
\n– Over half of all grades are 9 \u20137 (higher than the national average at 21.6%)
\n– Almost a third of students achieved a full set of 7s, 8s and 9s
\n– 40% of all grades are 8s and 9s
\n– Four students achieved a full set of 8s and 9s
\n– One student achieved a full set of grade 9s across 12 subjects
\n– Seven Year 10 students sat their music exams a year early, achieving 8s and 9s <\/p>\n

We\u2019re extremely proud of our students for giving it their best, especially as they have had to overcome\u202fthe challenge of studying through a pandemic, with periods of online lessons. Some noteworthy highlights include one student who took their GCSEs a year early and achieved all grade 9s, we have had students overcome personal adversity to achieve amazing results with the support of family, friends and staff, plus seven students in Year 10 took their Music GCSE early. <\/p>\n

There have been numerous other successes, as well as good grades, for our year 11s. We believe that musical talent shouldn\u2019t be confined to the school walls, and we\u2019ve facilitated the students in sharing their gift. For example, they have given back to the local community by performing in major music venues, care homes, other schools, and public spaces. Our mission is to bring people together and ensure as many people as possible have access to music and the wellbeing benefits it brings. The students are at the heart of this civic mission, which is important as they\u2019re developing into well-rounded individuals. <\/p>\n

\nJoint Principal, Nicola Smith said: \u2018This year\u2019s GCSE students have shown that they have been able to achieve the highest standards not just in Music, but in the full range of their GCSEs. Many of the students now head into sixth form to continue their educational journey with Chetham\u2019s and make the most of all the opportunities we bring to them. Congratulations also goes to our teachers who provide the best care and high-quality teaching and learning to all our students.\u201d <\/p><\/blockquote>\n
